Every October, ADHD Awareness Month highlights the importance of understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder — a condition that affects children and adults alike. By raising awareness, we can reduce stigma, recognize symptoms, and connect people with resources that help them thrive.

What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that impacts focus, organization, and self-regulation. While often diagnosed in childhood, many adults live with ADHD too, sometimes without knowing it. ADHD is not just about being distracted or hyperactive — it’s a complex condition that can affect school, work, and relationships.

Recognizing the Symptoms

ADHD symptoms can look different for everyone, but often include:

  • Difficulty focusing or completing tasks
  • Forgetfulness and disorganization
  • Restlessness or trouble sitting still
  • Impulsivity, like interrupting or acting without thinking
  • Challenges with time management and deadlines

For children, symptoms may appear in the classroom or in social interactions. For adults, ADHD may affect productivity, stress, relationships, self-esteem, and job performance. At the same time, many people with ADHD bring unique strengths, such as creativity and innovative problem-solving.
