Eligibility
If you served on active duty and your discharge was anything other than dishonorable, you may qualify for VA health benefits.

If you are enrolled in the VA health care system, you meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act health care law.
Complaints about VA Health Care
If you have a complaint about any aspect of your care (healthcare provider, medical facility, etc.) you can:
- Discuss the problem with the provider or his or her supervisor.
- Contact the patient advocate. A patient advocate manages feedback from veterans, family members, and friends.
- Take additional steps.

Mental Health for Veterans
The Department of Veterans Affairs Mental Health program can help veterans and family members dealing with suicidal thoughts, depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual trauma, and other issues.
Veterans Crisis Line counselors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

- Connected Health (formerly the National Center for Telehealth & Technology) provides free mobile apps including Dream EZ (helps “rewrite” nightmares to make them less intense and less frequent) and Tactical Breather (provides guided breathing instruction to gain control over heart rate, emotions, concentration, and other responses caused by stressful situations.)
