Veterans Day is an opportunity for organizations everywhere to recognize, honor, and thank all those who have served in our country’s military.
There are close to 16 million veterans in the United States today. For many of them, returning to civilian life can involve a variety of changes and challenges. One way we can show our appreciation for their sacrifices and service is to help veterans and their family members find the support they need to move forward in work and life.
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) can be an excellent resource for this support. Here are a few examples:
- Mental health sessions can help veterans address PTSD, anxiety, depression, or challenges with substance misuse.
- Medical advocacy can help veterans and their family members navigate health insurance and secure additional counseling, medical equipment, and community resources.
- Life coaching can help veterans explore new career goals and strategies for achieving them.
- Family and relationship counseling can help veterans and their family members improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen bonds to build healthier relationships and navigate life transitions together.
- Legal and financial consultations can help veterans and their family members with personal legal matters, wills, real estate, budgeting, buying a home, or saving for tuition or retirement.
