National Family Caregivers Month is an opportunity to recognize and show appreciation for our family caregivers. According to Mental Health America, there are more than 53 million Americans who are unpaid caregivers to family, friends, and neighbors.
Caregiving can be very rewarding and is often viewed as a labor of love. But as time wears on, caregiving can become all-consuming and eventually interfere with the caregiver’s physical and emotional health, financial well-being, and social life.
At AllOne Health, our Employee Assistance Programs are designed to support caregivers in a variety of ways: by helping caregivers find the support they need for managing mental health challenges, plus the many other challenges that come with caregiving, such as finding information and referrals to obtain eldercare and housing, navigate health care systems and insurance, and find legal support.
Family caregivers are the anchors of our families and communities. When caregivers have the support they need, everyone benefits. Remind the caregivers in your families or organizations to seek support from their EAP. To learn more, visit Empowering Our Caregivers.
