AllOne Health, a leading provider of EAP and whole health solutions, today announced findings from its fourth consecutive Annual Report on EAP and Mental Health Benefit Trends. This report, which reflects survey results of over 600 client organizations, reveals a continued rise in the demand for mental health services and a significant shift in how employees access this support. As nearly 1 in 5 U.S. workers rate their mental health as fair or poor, workplaces are experiencing major changes in their demand for effective mental health solutions.
“The insights from our Annual Report are not just a reflection of where we stand—they are a powerful reminder of the work ahead,” states Keith Wasley, President and CEO of AllOne Health. “At AllOne Health, our goal is to transform care in ways that truly make a difference, ensuring that mental health and well-being remain at the forefront of every workplace.”
Key Findings on EAP Utilization Trends
- Requests for Mental Health Support on the Rise:
In 2024, 79% of all EAP referrals were for mental health counseling, up from 71% in 2023. Emotional concerns surged to 18% of all counseling referrals, more than doubling from 8% the previous year. This dramatic increase signals a clear need for more mental health counseling and resilience-building support.
- Counseling Access Preferences Shift:
Employees are seeking more flexible access to support. In-person counseling saw a slight increase to 45% in 2024, emerging as the preferred method over video-based counseling at 43%, which decreased from 48% in 2023. Telephonic counseling remained stable at 12%. This shift highlights the need for organizations to provide access to both in-person and virtual counseling options to ensure individuals have access to the right type of care for their diverse needs and preferences.
- Top Requested Non-Clinical Referrals Remain Steady:
Legal services (48%) and financial services (26%) continue to be the most requested non-clinical resources. Notably, life coaching referrals rose from 4% to 6%, indicating a growing interest in personal and career development resources among employees.
