The concepts of Psychological Safety and Working Agreements were interesting as they create an environment where people feel comfortable not just participating, but contributing in meetings. This environment is not created by a rule that everyone is nice to each other. Rather, it is created through an agreement that allows participants to contribute without fear. This distinction will better focus our team’s energy and maximize the rich contributions to be had from all team members.
Session 1 – Psychological Safety
Focus on building psychologically safe teams, which are essential for enhancing performance, engagement, and innovativeness. We will explore the concept of psychological safety and its impact on team dynamics. By establishing trust and creating an environment that encourages questioning, risk-taking, and learning from mistakes, we can unlock the full potential of our teams.
In this session, we will:
- Lay the essential foundation for the entire program.
- Learn how to develop high-performing teams by establishing trust and psychological safety.
- Emphasize the importance of creating an environment that encourages questioning, risk-taking, and learning from mistakes.
- Discuss how leaders can enhance team performance, engagement, and innovativeness through psychological safety.
- Benefit from research-backed insights on what makes teams effective.
Session 2 – Communication, Trust, and Rapport
Delve into the power of candor and adaptive communication to foster trust, rapport, and healthy conflict resolution within teams. By understanding and utilizing the DISC model, we can effectively engage with others based on their communication styles. This session will empower you to have candid conversations, navigate workplace tensions, and build stronger relationships with your colleagues.
In this session, we will:
- Harness conflict and tension as a productive force in workplace relationships.
- Understand and adapt to different communication styles using the DISC model.
- Improve interactions and build rapport by effectively engaging with others based on their DISC styles.
- Foster candid conversations and open dialogue for better collaboration.
- Gain insights into your own behavior and enhance your understanding of others.
Session 3 – Working Agreements
Cultivate a collaborative culture by co-creating agreed-upon norms of behavior. Participants deepen their sense of belonging and freedom to innovate, enhancing individual contributions to themselves, others, projects, goals, and the organization. This process establishes crucial behavioral expectations, alleviating burnout resulting from continuous adaptation to varying communication needs. Ultimately, it defines communication etiquette and behavioral standards that foster team cohesion and productivity.
In this session, we will:
- Define the significance of working agreements for team collaboration and psychological safety.
- Learn methods for co-creating effective working agreements aligned with team values and communication requirements.
- Develop skills to collaboratively define and refine working agreements.
- Identify and address challenges in maintaining working agreements.
- Apply principles to create actionable plans for implementing and sustaining working agreements within teams or organizations.
