Coaching Your Employees for Success: Finding Your Inner Mentor
Presented by Steven Bernstein, LMHC, CEAP
Back in the day, the quintessential way to motivate employees was either through a straight-up directive, mandate, perhaps even fear. A ‘do-it-or-else.’
The modern workplace is different. Dynamics are less hierarchical in nature and the new manager is more interested in engaging employees through collaboration, empowerment and relationship building.
Coaching is about helping employees become more effective, but by supporting and involving them in the process. At its best, coaching influences employee adaptability, productivity, and retention. The coaching manager might say, ‘Tell me, where do you want to be in your job in two years, and how can I help you get there?’
Employees need support and guidance in navigating their career journey. With coaching, the manager is helping the employee ‘get there’ by helping clarify goals, overcome hurdles and by offering praise and helpful feedback along the way.
Join us as we explore coaching in today’s workplace; how to be challenging, but inspirational,
firm, but human and how to harness employee strengths through care, curiosity and emotional intelligence, all in service of employee, manager and organizational well-being.
